All
fish are brought back to a central point to be
measured, scored and released. There are three
sessions over the weekend, two on Saturday and
one on Sunday morning. In each session the main
idea is to fish during this session and return
with your two biggest fish for scoring. We have
a break in the middle of the day to give you and
the kids a chance to have a bite to eat and a
stretch before going back out for the afternoon
session.
The tournament has three sections: one being for
sub-juniors, juniors and the other is of course
for seniors. The main scoring species in this
tournament is Australian Bass and we do have a
prize for the biggest yellowbelly or (golden perch)
each round.
The tournament is run over four rounds which
make up one series. We have fantastic prizes each
round for sub-juniors, juniors and seniors, with
a major prize at the end of the four rounds for
the overall highest point score for sub-juniors,
juniors and seniors for all six rounds.
The tournament is permanently based at Kirkleagh
camping area at Somerset Dam in the Brisbane valley.
This venue is a great spot to camp, while the
amenity blocks and barbecue areas are second to
none in the region. There is a kiosk on site and
ample concrete boat ramps to access the dam. All
permits that you will require can be obtained
at the kiosk as well and the Lake Somerset Holiday
Park will offer great discounts to all our registered
competitors for their camping fees. Lake Somerset
Holiday Park can be contected on (07) 5497 1093.
So come along and enjoy the friendship and the
fun of freshwater fishing,
