Stessl 560 Sea Hawk

There's always a story attached to the purchase of any boat, and it usually revolves around the age-old conundrum of matching all of your needs and at least some of your wants with your budget. Human nature being what it is, we're all after a top-shelf boat for a bottom-end price, so the search and eventual decision are generally anything but easy. Gold Coast boater Elliot Griffen recently made the decision to upgrade from his 4.5m side-console tinnie to something a bit bigger and more suitable for his family. Let's face it: the more comfortable your boat, the more time your family will want to spend with you on it.

If the Modern Boating team wasn't overly impressed with the latest
generation of Stessl Edge Tracker hulls before this test, we certainly
were after it was finished. And here's why. During the return run to the
Runaway
Bay Marina, following the photo shoot of the Edge Tracker
435, we hit a gusty northeasterly wind and a messy 1m chop that came at us from an
awkward angle off the bow quarter.
Stessl Edge Vee Angler 415 & Tracker Rail 435
Just to confuse the great tinnie debate even further, Stessl released two
new additions to its already extensive range. And while these boats may
look like just another couple of pointy-nosed tinnies, they aren't!
They look alike. Their interiors are similar, so similar in fact that the only distinguishing feature between them is the longer forward casting platform of the 435. But that's where any similarity ends.

Boat tests on smaller boats in the three to lower four metre
size ranges are fairly hard to find in much of the printed
media - as I have recently found out. Perhaps that is because
many anglers now use larger vessels, especially for barra and
bass fishing. Or is it just because the larger models are more
appealing to test than the basic dinghy.
Stessl Trophy 5.2 Centre Console
Stessl boats has undergone something of a revolution in recent times. Changes in overall design have introduced new models emphasising contemporary styling and increased fishability, while enhanced manufacturing techniques have ensured a strengthening of components within the under floor framework and bearers.
Stessl Trophy 5.6 Centre Console
When a boat is designed for Australian conditions and built in Australia, the end result is generally a very wellfinished product. And this is the case with the Stessl Boat Company which has been building boats for tough Australian conditions for decades, and now possesses a stable of 48 boats ranging in size from 3m to 6m.
Stessl 6100 Coastrunner
Not inclined to stand still for long, Stessl have now extended their Platetrix Series line up to include popular and functional centre cab models.I’ve always been impressed with the Stessl Platetrix concept and I really enjoyed driving the new 6100 Coastrunner powered by 140hp Suzuki within the Broadwater and Seaway area.
