Australian boat manufacturer Stessl breaks ground early on factory expansion to meet customer demand

Posted on August 18, 2020

Gold Coast mainstay Stessl Boats, undergoes its planned factory expansion brought forward two years to meet heightened customer demand.

Work has begun on a 4000sqm addition to the Coomera boat building facility amidst a surge in consumer interest in Stessl’s signature aluminium boats.

The upgrade, which was originally due to begin in 2022, will boost construction capacity, enhance research and development, as well as provide a slew of jobs for the local community.

Work on the upgraded facility comes just months after Stessl celebrated it’s 45 year anniversary of production on the Gold Coast and will increase Stessl’s capacity to produce more of the in-demand plate and pressed boat constructions.

Founded in 1975, the company earned a reputation for quality and innovation through the use of cutting-edge aluminium construction techniques.

Stessl quickly became an integral part of the Queensland landscape and a must for any would-be captain looking to explore the waterways offered by the glitter strip and beyond.

Research and funding have been heavily invested into Stessl, allowing for leaps in construction refinement, performance, and user comfort. Upgrades to upholstery and fitted equipment including  Italian steering wheels are just some of the improvements fuelling the increased call for Stessl boats.

The new PlatetriX2 Plate hulls and Delta Pressed hulls have been in high demand since their release earlier this year. Improved handling characteristics, quiet operation, and generous storage space make Stessl boats the ideal vessel for passionate anglers or those simply looking to spend time with family offshore.

Boasting everything from tinnies to coastline cruisers, Stessl has become one of the leading Australian boat manufacturers, and we aim to further grow our dealership network, and work with consumers to identify potential innovations and improvements.

With winter coming to a close and the mercury rising, there has never been a better time to experience first-hand the Stessl difference. For further information on Stessl’s wide range of Plate and Pressed boats please contact your nearest Stessl Dealer or visit
